Do not eat or drink ANYTHING 6-8 hours prior to surgery, including water. Preoperative medications may be taken with a small sip of water.
You may brush your teeth before surgery, however, do not swallow any water.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing with short sleeves. Make up and contact lenses are not to be worn on the day of surgery, and please be sure that at least 1-2 of your fingernails is free of polish, acrylics and gel type material.
No smoking for at least 12 hours before surgery. Ideally, cut down or stop smoking as soon as possible prior to the day of surgery.
It is important that you have a responsible adult driver available to take you home after your surgery, as you will not be able to drive yourself. It is imperative that the driver remain in our office while we perform your surgery. We will not start the surgery unless the driver is present.
If you develop the flu, a cold, a fever, or an infection prior to surgery, please notify our office immediately.
Please be prompt. If you arrive more than 15 minutes past your scheduled time, your procedure may be rescheduled. Do not drive, operate machinery or complicated devices for 24 hours after surgery.
